Block Printing @ Earth Day Fest

The Earth Day Fest + Repair Fair is a free, community-wide celebration happening on Saturday, April 18th from 12–4 PM at City High Middle School (1720 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids). Organized by the Creston Neighborhood Association, the event is packed with activities: plant giveaways, a clothing swap, a DIY terrarium workshop, group wellness activities, art, repair stations, and more. It's the kind of afternoon that reminds you why community matters.
We'll be set up with a block printing station for the full four hours, and we'd love for you to stop by, whether you spend five minutes or the whole afternoon!
At our booth, you'll choose from 30+ nature-inspired, hand-carved rubber blocks and print onto whatever canvas speaks to you.
Here's how a session works:
Pick your canvas. Bring something from home — an old shirt, a worn tote, a pillowcase you've been meaning to do something with. Or find something new at the clothing swap booth and bring it straight to us. We'll also have scrap fabric on hand courtesy of our friends at Public Thread, plus blank bandanas, hats, and patches available for purchase.
Pick your blocks. Our full collection of hand-carved nature-inspired blocks will be laid out and ready. Use one, use ten — there are no limits on blocks or repeats during your session.
Pick your colors. We'll have a wide selection of fabric- and paper-ready ink. Mix colors, layer prints, go bold or go subtle. We'll help you roll and prep before you press.
Print. We'll be right there to guide you through it and troubleshoot if anything goes sideways. You'll walk away with something you actually made — something that didn't exist before you showed up.
Printing sessions are $5, with no limits on blocks or colors. Blank canvases are available starting at $1, and pre-made patches are available from $3–$8.
Follow along on Instagram [@birdnbear.co] for updates, a peek at the block designs, and a short video of what to expect at the station. We'll see you there. 🌎
